Challenge Two - The Hobbit

"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort." - J.R.R. Tolkien - The Hobbit I read this first in the 2nd grade. I love Tolkein.

Quiet Please Crafters! You’re in The Library now.

If you love reading – or just looking at book covers – this challenge is for you.  Each challenge will feature a book and you can be inspired by :
The cover
or
The title
or
The story

Challenge Two is a children's classic , The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien.

This cover is from the first edition of the book and was drawn by Tolkien himself.

If you've not read the book (or seen the film), the story has small human-like creatures such as hobbits,  elves , dwarves and goblins plus a wizard and  a dragon - even fairies get a mention. It's set in Middle Earth, which seems to have a lot of mountains and woodlands.

Here's how The Librarian interpreted this challenge:

Please do check the schedule in the side-bar. Challenge One (Pride and Prejudice) will remain open for another week and I'll be back on March 17th with my 'Librarian's Choice' - projects which caught my eye.

I hope you will join The Library!

  2. Hello, just found you. Sounds interesting. I really don't consider the Hobbit a childrens book, but never underestimate the kids!!! By blurb I assume you mean the story? Off to check out everything that has come before. Hugz
